Johann Rüttger Siebel (born August 15, 1736 in Elberfeld (now part of Wuppertal ), † June 30, 1808 there ) was mayor of Elberfeld several times.

Life

Siebel was born as the son of the Elberfeld merchant and mayor Johann Wilhelm Siebel and his wife Anna Margareta Evertsen (1711–1765). Siebel himself began as a merchant in Elberfeld and on September 10, 1773 married the daughter of an Elberfeld merchant, Johanna Katharina Wülfing (1738–1805), with whom he had three children. One daughter married Jakob Wortmann , who later became mayor of 1803 .

Siebel was elected to the council for the first time in 1774 and 1775 and was also proposed as mayor in the years, but could not prevail in each case. In 1776 he was elected mayor of Elberfeld for the first time and in the following year he was city ​​judge . He did not return to the Elberfeld council until 1781 and this time remained until 1784. In 1785 he was again mayor of Elberfeld and in 1786 again city judge. After that year he went back to the council and remained so until 1791. In 1793 he was mayor for the third time and in 1794 for the third time city judge.

Siebel belonged to the Elberfeld Reading Society .
