Johann Zach (politician)

Johann (Hans) Zach (born November 10, 1892 in Kühnring ; † May 29, 1978 in Wiener Neustadt ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and teacher. Zach was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from 1945 to 1954 .

Life

Johann Zach attended the teacher training college in St. Pölten and from 1912 was a teacher at the school for the deaf and mute in Wiener Neustadt. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War, but remained a prisoner of war until 1920. Zach was a local councilor from 1927 and vice mayor in Wiener Neustadt from 1930. In 1928, Zach represented the Heimwehr as the official registrant for the deployment of the Heimwehr and the Schutzbund in Wiener Neustadt . He worked in the corporate state from 1934 to 1938 as mayor in Wiener Neustadt. After the annexation of Austria by the National Socialists, Zach was arrested in 1938 and was imprisoned in Buchenwald concentration camp from 1939 to 1940 .

After the end of the Second World War, Zach was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament from December 12, 1945 to November 10, 1954. From 1956 to 1965 he was again Vice Mayor in Wiener Neustadt.
