Johann of Constance

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann von Konstanz (documented between 1281 and 1312 in Konstanz ) was a spiritually educated poet who wrote in the Alemannic dialect .

His Minnerede, Der Werden Minneehre ( Minnelehre ), which was handed down in the Weingartner Lieder manuscript and which was initially erroneously attributed to Heinzelin von Konstanz , is one of the more extensive poems of the genre with 2500 verses. It combines allegorical motifs, as they are also known from the French rose novel, with ancient motifs from the Ovid tradition .
