Johann Joachim Georg Graf von Sievers ( Russian Егор Карлович Сиверс / Egor Karlovich Siwers born August 16, jul. / 27. August  1778 greg. In Wenden , Livonia ; † June 18 jul. / The thirtieth June  1827 greg. In Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian general and engineer of German-Baltic origin.

Life

He was the son of Count Karl Eberhard von Sievers (1745-1821) and Freiin Martha von Mengden (1748-1837).

Johann von Sievers studied at the Universities of Göttingen and Dorpat . As general and chief engineer of the Great Russian Army , he fought against the French army under the command of Prince Ludwig Adolf Peter zu Sayn-Wittgenstein . In 1813 alone he took part in the following battles: Bautzen , Großgörschen and Dresden . In 1814 he was directly to the Field Marshal Prince Barclay de Tolly assumed and commanded in the Battle of Brienne against Napoleon .

After the war, he headed various military and engineering schools in Russia. On September 1, 1822 Sievers was appointed a member of the Council for Transport Routes. In 1826 he was made an honorary member of the Academy of Sciences for his services to Russian engineering . He died on June 18, 1827 in Saint Petersburg.
