Johanna Bayer

Johanna Bayer (born January 23, 1915 in Berlin ; † February 5, 2000 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ).

Life

Johanna Bayer attended the secondary school in Mödling and studied from 1933 to 1937 at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (doctorate in dairy farming). According to the historian Michael Wladika, Bayer applied for membership in the NSDAP on May 15, 1938 . She was admitted to the NSDAP retrospectively on May 1, 1938, which suggests that she was an “illegal” worker. It was assigned the membership number 6,136,513. From 1938 to 1942 she was head of the rural women’s department of the Styrian rural farming community. In 1948 the chamber clerk was a consultant in the regional chamber for agriculture and forestry Styria, in 1960 department head in the regional chamber for agriculture and forestry Styria. In 1961 she was awarded the title of Chief Agriculture Councilor. She was also the deputy head of the Austrian women's movement in Styria. From 1953 to 1957 she was a member of the Federal Council , from 1957 to 1973 a member of the National Council .
