Friedrich Gugg

Friedrich Gugg (born April 27, 1896 in Straßwalchen , † July 4, 1977 in Straßwalchen) was an Austrian politician .

Life

After primary school , Gugg attended trade school and learned the trade of butcher . He then ran a coffee and tavern.

During his political career, Gugg became mayor of Straßwalchen, from 1935 to 1938 a member of the Salzburg state parliament and deputy chairman of the Austrian Economic Association. In 1945 he became a member of the Salzburg Regional Group and in 1947 Vice President of the Salzburg Chamber of Commerce.

He was a member of the Federal Council for the Christian Social Party in 1932 and 1934, and for the ÖVP from December 1, 1949 to December 22, 1966.

Friedrich Gugg took over the chairmanship of the Federal Council in 1953, 1957, 1962 and 1966.

Between 1950 and 1952, Gugg, as mayor, had a secondary school built in his place of birth.
