Hans Heger

Hans Heger (born December 7, 1915 in Vienna , † October 15, 1993 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ), industrial clerk and consul. From 1968 to 1983 he was a member of the Federal Council and its chairman several times.

education and profession

Heger first attended elementary school and then completed a secondary school . After taking his Matura, he studied at the University of World Trade in Vienna and graduated with the academic degree Dipl.-Kfm. from. Since 1934 he was a member of the Catholic student association KHV Babenberg Vienna in the ÖCV . After military service in World War II , which he did until 1945, he continued his studies at the University of World Trade, where he obtained a Dr. rer. comm. PhD. He also studied law . From 1947 Heger worked as an independent businessman. From 1957 he worked as a managing partner of Bauer Austria Salzburg-Vienna. He was also Honorary Consul of Belgium from 1959 to 1985 .

Politics and functions

Heger engaged while studying as a trustee of the National Union of Students of the University of Economics and in 1947 a member of the municipal council of the municipality of Oberndorf bei Salzburg chosen. In this position, Heger remained within the party until 1959. From 1947 to 1957 he was active as local party chairman of the Austrian People's Party in Oberndorf. Heger was also involved in the professional representation and worked from 1958 to 1970 as Vice President and Finance Officer of the Chamber of Commerce for Salzburg. Furthermore, from 1970 he held the function of curator of the economic development institute of the Chamber of Commerce for Salzburg and from 1967 worked as deputy chairman of the Austrian Economic Association .

Heger represented the Austrian People's Party between December 22, 1966 and June 30, 1980 in the Federal Council. He already held the office of Chairman of the Federal Council between December 22, 1966 and December 31, 1966 and also exercised this office in the first half of 1971, the second half of 1975 and the first half of 1980. In addition, on June 9, 1971, he was chairman of the 10th Federal Assembly. Heger was also a member of the Austrian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1969 to 1973 and from 1974 to 1981.
