Johanna Magdalena of Saxony-Weissenfels
Johanna Magdalena von Sachsen-Weißenfels (born March 17, 1708 in Weißenfels , † January 25, 1760 in Leipzig ) was the only surviving daughter of Duke Johann Georg von Sachsen-Weißenfels (1677-1712) and his wife Friederike Elisabeth von Sachsen-Eisenach (1669–1730), her other children died early.
Johanna Magdalena was 22 years old when she married the 74-year-old Duke of Courland, Ferdinand Kettler (1655-1737) on February 26, 1730 . She became a widow in 1737 and the marriage remained childless. So she moved to Leipzig as a rich widow. There she made the acquaintance of the English ambassador Charles Hanbury Williams .
After the death of her husband, she was engaged to Adam Rudolph von Schönberg , but died shortly before the planned wedding.
Her coffin is now in the princely crypt in Neu-Augustusburg Castle in the Evangelical Castle Chapel of St. Trinity.
