Johannes Arnold (born April 7, 1970 in Stuttgart ) is a German local politician . He has been Lord Mayor of the large district town of Ettlingen since October 21, 2011 .

Arnold grew up in Heimerdingen , a district of Ditzingen in the Ludwigsburg district .

He studied administrative sciences at the University of Konstanz . After graduating in 1998, he worked in the city marketing department of the city of Konstanz . From 1999 to 2005 he was Nagold's economic representative , and from 2003 to 2005 he was also the managing director of the intermunicipal industrial park INGpark, a military conversion site .

In July 2005 he was elected mayor ( alderman ) of the large district town of Nagold. His department was responsible for finance, economics, real estate management, schools, kindergartens and culture and public utilities. Since 2009 he was also a member of the district council of the district of Calw , where he belonged to the faction of free voters .

On July 24, 2011, Arnold was elected Lord Mayor of Ettlingen with 50.74 percent of the vote in the first ballot. Arnold is non-party.

In the local elections on May 25, 2014, Arnold was elected to the district council of the Karlsruhe district with 11,481 votes. With this result, he was the absolute king of votes in Ettlingen and the candidate with the fourth most votes in the district. This also enabled him to obtain a compensation mandate for the list on which he was running. The list consisted of independent applicants, which was supplemented by members of the electoral association "For Ettlingen", which also belongs to the Baden-Württemberg State Association of Free Voters. Thus Arnold remained true to his promise from the OB election to remain independent. In the district council, he joined the local free voters, who thereby became the second largest group in the district by votes.

In the district election on May 26, 2019, Johannes Arnold increased his share of the vote by more than 20% to 13,829 votes, was again and by a considerable margin the king of the vote in the constituency and improved his result in the district as the candidate with the third most votes.

On July 21, 2019, Arnold, who ran unopposed, was re-elected as Lord Mayor with a turnout of 26.2% with 98.6%.

Arnold is married and has three children.
