Johannes Baltzer (lawyer)

Johannes Baltzer (born August 16, 1933 in Weimar ) is a German lawyer .

Life

Baltzer, son of Major General Martin Baltzer and his wife Adelheid, a native of Hartenstein, was the third oldest son in the family. He finished his legal studies at the universities in Marburg and Munich in February 1958 by passing the first state examination. In August 1962 he successfully passed the second state law examination. In addition to working as a research assistant at the University of Marburg , he received his doctorate in 1964 on a corporate law topic. His habilitation followed in 1970 . In the following years he was initially employed as a substitute professor at the Universities of Gießen, Tübingen and Münster before he was appointed professor at Marburg University in 1973. After Baltzer's appointment in February 1976 as a judge for life in the 2nd main office at the Marburg Regional Court , he moved to the Darmstadt Regional Social Court in autumn 1980 . Since 1986, the year he was appointed university professor for life in Lower Saxony, he held a chair at the University of Osnabrück for civil law, commercial law, civil procedure law, legal information and social law. Since April 1988, Baltzer was a judge at the Federal Social Court (BSG). At the BSG he was assigned to the 5th Senate and thus dealt with the legal questions relating to the pension insurance of workers . His other positions at the BSG were the 13th Senate and the 6th Senate, in which from June 1992 he dealt with the legal problems of statutory dentistry law. On November 1, 1994, he became presiding judge of the 5th Senate. His activity there ended when he retired in August 1998.

In addition, Baltzer has published numerous publications on civil and social law topics, both as editor and as author. After his retirement he worked as a lawyer in Erfurt / Kassel and Marburg, continued the lectures he began in 1989 as an honorary professor at the University of Marburg and has been the managing partner of the Marburg contact seminars on health care since 2000.
