Paul Rother (born June 24, 1936 in Mamba on Kilimanjaro ) is a German anatomist .

life and work

Paul Rother was born on June 24, 1936 in Mamba (on Kilimanjaro ). After studying medicine, he worked in Chemnitz clinics for a year . He then worked for 41 years at the Institute for Anatomy , Histology and Embryology at the University of Leipzig as a scientist and anatomist, the last 17 years of which as a professor .

His scientific work focused on embryology, histology and histomorphometric examinations of the aging of the tissues, on the quantitative analysis of the hyaline cartilage of the embryonic systems , on changes in the thickness of muscle fibers of the human tongue with age, the trainability of the muscles in old age, the histomorphometric characterization autonomous areas of the human thyroid gland in the aging duct, the measurement of adipose tissue proliferation in serous and mucosal glands , visceral lipomatosis , the quantification of the layer formation in the developing retina , the image-analytical determination of the fractal dimension of histological structures (ciliary body, liver lobules) in the aging duct and the Quantifying the interplay of order and chaos in histology.

After his retirement in 2001, he began a second degree in humanities (history, psychology and Russian studies) and completed it in 2006 with the master's exams. Paul Rother dedicated himself to poetry and prose, published in the Federal Association of German Doctors of Writers (BDSÄ) and in various magazines. In 2001 first a wise man, then a child (poems) appeared, followed by other books such as Der Westbusen: Stories and poems over seven decades , football and other sports poems .
