Johannes Berger (sociologist)
Johannes Berger (born February 7, 1939 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German sociologist . From 1974 to 1989 he was Professor of Sociology at the University of Bielefeld , from 1989 to 2004 at the University of Mannheim .

His main research interests are: sociological theory; Social theory (social and moral foundations of modern societies); Social change and social inequality in industrial societies ; Modernization research or modernization theory ; Economic sociology ( markets and organizations , economic development and social institutions ).
