Johannes Franciscus Christ
Johannes Franciscus Christ (born February 14, 1790 in Nijmegen ; † March 9, 1845 ibid) was a Dutch landscape painter , etcher and watercolorist .
Christ was a student of Jacob van Eynden (1733–1824) and continued his self-taught education. In 1835 he wrote the book Wandelingen van een landschapschilderhung de Ruhr en een gedeelte van den Ryn (German: walks of a landscape painter along the Ruhr and a section of the Rhine).
The painter Jan van Ravenswaay helped him paint figures in his landscape paintings. The animal painter Bernard te Gempt was his student in Nijmegen before he started studying in Amsterdam. Christ was the father of Johanna Maria and Pieter Casper Christ (1822–1888), who also became a painter.
