Who said that? is the seventh studio album by the German Hamburg hip-hop and electropunk formation Deichkind , released in 2019 .

background

Jan Böhmermann , Bela B. , Joey Bargeld, Alexander Marcus and Olli Schulz were guest singers on the album . Actor and DJ Lars Eidinger played a part in the music videos for the songs “ Richtig good stuff, No party and things” .

The title “#wsdd” is an excerpt from season 1, episode 1 of the German-Luxembourgish television series “ Bad Banks ” and is part of a conversation between the Mayor of Leipzig Peter Schultheiß (played by Jörg Schüttauf ) and Helmut Markwart (played by Rainer Furch ).

reception

In the Bayern 2 broadcast Zündfunk was Who says that? described as "the most political album to date" by Deichkind . Susanne Birkner from NDR Info said that with this album Deichkind moved “even more than usual between the poles of hedonism and social criticism, between partying and criticism of partying”. The NDR television program Kulturjournal said that there was everything on the album: “Social criticism, nonsense and party.” Manuel Berger from laut.de wrote that, like other Deichkind albums, it was “excellently produced light music with lyrics between infantile slapstick humor and subtly incorporated intellectuality ”. The music critic Philine Sauvageot from SWR 2 said that the album flattened out after the“ very critical and well-made “Who said that?” ”.
