Johannes Fritzhans
Johannes Fritzhans (also: Fritzehans, Fritze ; * around 1480 in Magdeburg ; † beginning of 1540 there ) was a German Franciscan and Lutheran preacher.
Life
For the first time Fritzhans appears in Leipzig in front of Andreas Bodenstein in defense of his friar Seiler and Augustin von Alveldt . He went to his hometown Magdeburg, where he took part in the convent and in 1523 committed to the ideas of the Reformation . Thereupon he left the monastery and went to Wittenberg . Here he justified his step in a sermon in Christ and returned to his hometown in 1524.
In the course of the advancing Reformation movement, he became preacher at the Johanniskirche in Magdeburg and shortly afterwards pastor of the Holy Spirit Church . He worked there together with Eberhard Weidensee on the distribution of Lutheran writings. As a representative of Lutheran teaching, he contributed to the spread of the Reformation in Magdeburg.
