Johannes Hampel (pedagogue)

Johannes Hampel (born August 24, 1925 in Troppau ; † April 4, 2016 in Augsburg ) was a German educator. Hampel was professor for didactics of social studies at the University of Augsburg.

Life

Born in the First Czechoslovak Republic , Hampel studied history, philosophy and political science in Regensburg, Munich and Ellensburg (Washington). With a doctoral thesis with Fritz Stippel , he received his doctorate in 1957 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1959 he became a research assistant at the PH Augsburg. With Franz Seilnacht (lecturer at the University of Education in Munich), he wrote the textbook We Experience History . From 1988 he was chairman of the Bukowina Institute at the University of Augsburg . From 1972 to 1985 he was editor-in-chief of the journal Political Studies published by the Hanns Seidel Foundation . For many years, Hampel was the state and federal chairman of the Catholic Educational Community (KEG) and chairman of the Society for Christian-Jewish Cooperation in Swabia . Hampel is the brother of Maria Ward's sister Renata Hampel .
