Johannes Hillje (born December 10, 1985 in Vorwerk) is a German political advisor and author. He is a "Policy Fellow" at Das Progressive Zentrum .

Life

Johannes Hillje graduated from the Graf-Anton-Günther School in Oldenburg in 2005 . He then completed a degree in political science and journalism at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , which he completed in 2011 with a master's degree. He then obtained a Masters in Politics and Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science . Hillje was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation .

Hillje worked as a journalist in the heute.de editorial team at ZDF and the Nordwest-Zeitung . In 2013 he completed the Carlo Schmid Program in the communications department of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in New York. For the 2014 European elections , he worked as the campaign manager for the European Green Party . Since 2015 he has been advising institutions, parties, politicians, associations and companies on a national and European level as an independent political and communication consultant.

In 2017 Hillje published the book “Propaganda 4.0 - How right-wing populists make politics”. In 2019 his second book "Platform Europe - Why we talk badly about the EU and how we can overcome nationalism with a new digital network" will follow. Both books were published by Dietz-Verlag . In 2018 Hillje published the study "Return to the Politically Abandoned" together with the Progressive Center . He has also published numerous guest articles and essays in national media.

Hillje regularly comments on political issues in the media as an expert on political communication.
