Johannes Körting

Johannes Körting (born May 9, 1856 in Kemnade , Bodenwerder , † February 13, 1952 in Düsseldorf ) was a German engineer .

Life

A few weeks after the birth of Johannes Körting, his father died of typhus . As a result, Körting's mother moved back to her family in Hanover, where Körting attended high school. After a practical activity in the machine factory of Bethel Henry Strousberg , he studied from 1874 to 1878 at the Hanover Polytechnic , where Moritz Rühlmann and Otto von Grove were among his professors. After brief employment at two metallurgical companies, Körting began to work for the company of his cousins, the Körting brothers OHG , in 1880 . Especially in the early years he supported and relieved his cousin Ernst . At the beginning of the 20th century, Körting set up a branch in Düsseldorf for the company, which has meanwhile been renamed a stock corporation, which mainly operated as a heating company. In 1910, Körting became director of a construction machinery factory in Düsseldorf, and in 1913 a partner in a machine factory in Lintorf . After it was sold to Maschinen- und Kranbau AG in 1917, he headed the latter until 1920. He was then regional director of the Association of the Central Heating Industry until 1946.

In addition to his economic activities, Körting was a city ​​councilor for Düsseldorf from 1906 to 1919 , and a commercial judge from 1920 to 1922 . He was a member of the board of the Association of German Engineers (VDI) from 1909 to 1911. He had been a member of the VDI since 1879.
