Nina Michelle

Nina Michelle (born May 1, 1968 ) is a Canadian jazz singer and singer-songwriter who lives in Munich .

Live and act

Michelle's father is a professional jazz musician; she grew up in Vancouver and received classical piano training from the age of 5. After graduating with honors, she continued her instrumental and vocal studies at Capillano University . She also began studying art at Langara College and Emily Carr University .

During her studies, Michelle performed with her father in jazz clubs in British Columbia . In 1996 her debut album "Nina Michelle Live" was released, which was created at "Vancouver's Jazz Cellar". In the following year she was engaged in Germany for an album with the New Orleans Dixie Stompers and then moved to Munich.

Michelle has performed with several big bands, including the SWR Big Band under the direction of Max Greger . In 2004 a live album followed with the Munich Swing Orchestra and the CD Swinging Christmas produced by Max Greger junior . As an actress, Michelle worked in a supporting role in Oliver Storz 'television film "Towards the end of the night" in 1998 , where she can also be heard on the soundtrack as a singer. She had a guest appearance as a singer in the television series " Storm of Love ".

In her own quartet she performed with Tizian Jost , Rocky Knauer and Guido May . Two albums were made with the Old Stoariegler Dixieland Band . She toured Switzerland with the Jazz Power of Charly Antolini and has performed with him and the Jazz Ladies around Lindy Huppertsberg in recent years ; Two albums were created in this constellation (2010, 2012). Back in Vancouver, she performed with Linton Garner at the Rossinis Jazz Club. She introduced herself as a singer-songwriter on her album Love Confessions (2018), which was released by Flowerstreet Records and presented at the Jazzfest Munich 2019 in the Gasteig .
