Max Greger junior

Max Greger junior (born October 10, 1951 in Munich ) is a German pianist , keyboardist , composer and arranger in the fields of jazz , easy listening and film music .

Life

Max Greger jr., Son of the band leader Max Greger , had piano lessons from the age of five. After high school he studied piano with Maria Landes-Hindemith at the Musikhochschule in Munich , as well as composition and counterpoint . He also worked as a studio musician and was a member of the Munich rock jazz band Hotline as an organist . In 1968 he tried his hand at a pop singer ( Call me when you're lonely , published by Telefunken ); In 1970 he jumped in for a sick pianist in his father's big band , was then a permanent member of the orchestra for nine years and took part in numerous television appearances and music productions.

In 1972 he founded the jazz trio Catch Up , which also included Milan Pilar (bass) and Charly Antolini (drums). With the trio he accompanied various vocal soloists; he also played a. a. with Benny Bailey , Jimmy Woode , Herb Geller , Günter Lenz , Ack van Rooyen , Bobby Burgess , Bobby Jones and Horst Jankowski . With George Greene he founded the Hotline Band with Olaf Kübler and Lothar Meid in the mid-1970s . He was also a member of the Charly Antolini's Power Dozen and the Werner Drexler Orchestra . In addition to his work as a pianist, composer and arranger, he leads several jazz formations with a wide variety of styles from blues , swing , mainstream jazz to soul jazz . As a film composer he wrote music for the television series Derrick (1984-1993) and Der Alte (1983-19985).
