Charly Augschöll

Karl "Charly" Augschöll (born November 17, 1955 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( tenor and alto saxophone , clarinet , flute , vocals ).

Live and act

Augschöll first learned the clarinet. At the age of 14 he met the guitarist Walter Catulla from Reutte , through whom he came to jazz. He graduated from the Innsbruck Conservatory to continue his education at the Graz University of Music ; he was a multiple winner of major Austrian competitions. He financed his studies as a musician of the popular Tyrolean sparrows . After graduating, he worked in a symphony orchestra as solo clarinetist; after a year and a half, he turned to jazz forever.

In the mid-1980s he founded his radio- committed quartet Hotline , which has existed in different line-ups for more than 30 years. Since the early 1990s he toured for many years to Charly Antolini's Jazz Power . He also worked with Chaka Khan , Johnny Guitar Watson , Shirley Bassey , Gloria Gaynor , Joy Fleming , Barbara Dennerlein , Aladár Pege and Art Farmer .
