George English Greene
George English Greene III (* 1943 in Mobile , Alabama ) is an American jazz and blues musician ( drummer and singer).
Live and act
Greene started his musical career at the age of nine. In high school he performed nationwide with classmates in the Heartbreakers group . In the early 1960s he came to Augsburg as a contract soldier , where he worked in the 24th Division Band . He also appeared in other bands; Among other things, he played with the group Niagara around Klaus Weiss and with Jimmy Jackson's Haboob .
After completing his military service in 1973, he worked as a studio musician and as a house drummer in the Domicil jazz club , with Robin Kenyatta , Mal Waldron and Don Menza , among others . He was also part of the Ken Rhodes trio . With Max Greger junior he founded the Hotline Band in the mid-1970s , which he later continued. After studying computer science at the University of Maryland (1979–1982), he returned to Germany, where he worked with traveling stars such as Solomon Burke , Nina Simone , Ray Charles , George Benson , Dorothy Hightower , The Stars of Faith , The Barrett Sisters or Chuck Berry performed. He made some television appearances with his hotline band and recorded two albums. It can also be heard on sound carriers by Veit Marvos, Willy Michl and Al Copley .
