Milan Pilar

Milan Pilar (born November 20, 1934 in Prague ) is a German jazz and entertainment musician ( double bass , composition) of Czechoslovak origin.

Live and act

Pilar studied at the Prague Conservatory. He initially belonged to the orchestras Gustav Brom , Ladislav Bezubka, Karel Vlach and Karel Krautgartner . In 1960 he was able to record with his own combo , then with Karel Velebnýs SHQ . Until 1964 he was married to the singer Eva Pilarová. As a result of the Prague Spring in 1968, he migrated to the Federal Republic of Germany. After studying in Cologne, he worked from Munich. He was a member of Charly Antolini's Power Dozen ; with Antolini and Max Greger junior he formed the fusion trio Catch Up in the mid-1970s , which recorded several albums, and then worked in the Incognito Five and with Master McCalhoun's Big Band . He also belonged to the groups of Benny Gebauer and Horst Jankowski . By 2002 he presented several albums under his own name. As a studio musician, he can be heard on recordings by the Helmut Brandenburg , Etienne Cap , Andy Novello, Werner Drexler and Kai Warner orchestras .
