Helmuth Brandenburg

Helmuth Brandenburg (born September 16, 1928 in Düsseldorf ; † January 17, 2012 in Munich ) was a German composer, conductor, saxophonist and arranger in jazz and popular music .

Life

Brandenburg first played in Munich with Freddie Brocksieper and Ernst Jäger . As the successor to Werner Müller and Dave Hildinger , he directed the RIAS dance orchestra from 1970 to 1973 . Under the pseudonym Kookie Freeman , which he had already used successfully before, he expanded the spectrum of the orchestra and adapted it to the fashions of the time. He used new electronic production techniques and added beat and rock music to the repertoire. He then founded the Helmuth Brandenburg Orchester , which also appeared under the names Helmut Brandenburg Orchester , The Helmuth Brandenburg Pop Symphony Orchestra and Kookie Freeman Velvet Sound and released albums in the easy listening style.
