Johannes Knaust

Johannes Knaust (born July 21, 1879 in Sagorsch ; † January 11, 1961 in Kühlungsborn ) was a German teacher and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Knaust attended elementary school and then from 1895 to 1900 the preparatory institutions and teachers' seminars in Marienburg and Prussian Stargard . After completing the teachers' seminar, he works as a teacher, just like his father did before. From April 1900 to 1936 he was an elementary school teacher. 1900–1903 he worked in the elementary school Pangritz Colonie (near Elbing), 1903–1906 in the elementary school Stobbendorf (Danziger Niederung), 1906–1933 in the elementary school Sopot and 1933–1936 in Danzig-Langfuhr. In 1936 he retired early.

In the meantime, he had been a war veteran in the medical service from 1917 to 1918. He was married since 1903.

In the Free City of Danzig he was involved in the SPD. He was 1924-1936 chairman of the SPD and 1928-1938 city council in Sopot. 1927–1930 and again 1935–1938 he was a member of the People's Day . From September 1939 to October 1939 he was held in political custody in Danzig. From July 1944 to August 1944 he was imprisoned again, this time in the Stutthof concentration camp .

As part of the expulsion of the German population, he came to Neubukow (Mecklenburg) in August 1945 .
