Johannes Koekkoek (painter)

Johannes Koekkoek (born December 8, 1811 in Middelburg , Kingdom of the Netherlands , † April 28, 1831 in Breda , Kingdom of the Netherlands) was a Dutch landscape and marine painter "calm and troubled waters" and a lithographer .

Life

Johannes came from the Dutch Koekkoek family of painters , who gave lasting impetus to Dutch Romantic painting . He was the third son of Johannes Hermanus Koekkoek and Anna van Koolwijk. His brothers were Barend Cornelis , Marinus Adrianus and Hermanus Koekkoek the elder , his sister was Anna Koekkoek (* 1812).

Johannes Koekkoek and his brothers received their first painting lessons in their father's studio. From 1826 until his death in 1831 he worked as a painter. In 1930 he worked in Amsterdam . He died in Breda at the age of 19.
