Johannes Koppe (born June 24, 1883 in Leipzig ; died May 13, 1959 there ) was a German architect . His estate, found in 2005 and 2006, is evidence of urban development in Leipzig in the 1920s.

Life

After school and training, Johannes Koppe went into business for himself in Leipzig around 1912 and from 1913 had an architecture office that specialized in the construction of small apartments and settlements. In 1928 he received the third prize, endowed with 3,000 Reichsmarks, for a design for the Leipziger Krochsiedlung . From 1927 to 1929 Koppe was a city councilor for the Reich Party of German Middle Classes in Leipzig. At the same time he was also chairman of the Economic Association of German Architects (WDA) , and his office at Prendelstrasse 17 served as the WDA's main office.

Later he also designed industrial and commercial facilities. From 1938 the architecture office was continued in partnership with Otto Hellriegel. Koppe and Hellriegel continued the architecture of New Building in the spirit of the Bauhaus . During the construction of the Reconciliation Church in the Krochsiedlung in Leipzig, Koppe sat on the building committee.
