Johannes Piderit

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johannes Piderit (* 1559 in Blomberg in Lippe ; † after 1639 ) was a German Protestant theologian and historiographer .

As the successor to his father Jobst Piderit, pastor in Blomberg from 1557 to 1584, he took up his position from 1584 to 1628. He was a staunch Lutheran and sat in opposition to the sovereign conversion of Count Simon VI. (Lippe) to the Calvinist creed ( Reformed Church ).

In 1627, when it went to press in Rinteln , he published his " Lippische Chronik " ( Chronicon Commitatus Lippiae ), the first account of the history of Lippe and the ruling noble family of the Lippe family .

In his memory, the city of Blomberg named the square in front of the inner-city Blomberg Castle after him, and streets all over Lippe are named after Piderit.
