Johannes Schradin (* around 1500 in Reutlingen ; † turn of the year 1560/1561 there) was a German Roman Catholic theologian, poet and Lutheran reformer .

Life

As with many other contemporaries, nothing can be determined of Schradin's childhood and youth. 1521 studied theology at the University of Basel , 1522 enrolled at the University of Tübingen , 1523 Baccalaureus . After that, he worked as a preceptor at the Latin school in his hometown Reutlingen for 9 years. In agreement with Pastor Matthäus Alber , he joined the Reformation . He was in correspondence with Johannes Brenz and Philipp Melanchthon . In the Lord's Supper dispute in 1527 he turned against Konrad Sam .

He was present at the Marburg Religious Discussion , but was not admitted to the main disputation. Since Reutlingen signed the Confessio Augustana at the Reichstag in Augsburg , the citizenship stood entirely on Martin Luther's side. Schradin traveled with Alber to Wittenberg in 1536 to conclude the Wittenberg Agreement . In the Schmalkaldic War he composed two songs that called for resistance. Therefore Schradin had to leave his hometown after the Augsburg Interim and stayed in Neuffen and Frickenhausen . In 1553, Count Georg von Württemberg-Mömpelgard appointed him his court preacher until Schradin was able to return to Reutlingen in 1557.
