Johannes Schwerdtmann

Wilhelm Hermann Johannes Schwerdtmann (born June 19, 1861 in Stadthagen ; † March 2, 1922 ) was a German Lutheran theologian, consistorial councilor and general superintendent of the general diocese of Bremen-Verden .

Life

As the son of a pastor of the Schaumburg-Lippische Landeskirche , Schwerdtmann attended high school in Rinteln . After studying theology, he became pastor in Stadthagen in 1884 , pastor in Dorfmark in 1888 , second pastor at the Henrietten Foundation in Hanover in 1900 , first pastor and head of the Henrietten Foundation in 1905, and from 1913 to 1922 general superintendent for Bremen and Verden with an official seat in Hanover.

From 1913 to 1922 he was also a clerical member of the consistory in Hanover.

The French resistance fighter and peace activist Andre Trocme was his nephew.

Schwerdtmann was buried in the monastery cemetery in Loccum .
