Johannes Thomas (Romanist)

Johannes Thomas (born October 25, 1941 in Eilendorf ) is a German Romance studies and professor at the University of Paderborn .

Life

Johannes Thomas studied Romance and Classical Philology as well as Philosophy in Cologne , Bonn , Liège and Genoa . After receiving his doctorate from the University of Cologne in 1967, he worked from 1968 to 1974 as a research assistant at the Romance Department at RWTH Aachen University , where he completed his habilitation in 1974 . From 1976 Johannes Thomas worked as a professor in Aachen, before he accepted the professorship in Romance studies in Paderborn in 1978. From 1985 to 1988 he was on leave from his university activities and during this time he was head of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's branch in Rome . Johannes Thomas was the founding senator of the University of Erfurt in 1999 and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Erfurt since 2002.
