Johannes Varnbuler

Johannes Varnbüler (born January 3, 1464 in St. Gallen ; † October 4, 1545 in Lindau (Lake Constance) ) was one of the mayors of the city of Lindau.

Life

Johannes Varnbüler was born as the first son of the St. Gallen mayor Ulrich Varnbüler and his wife Agnes (née Beeli) and came to Lindau with his parents in 1490. There he held the office of mayor nine times.

In 1504 Varnbuler married the Augsburg patrician daughter Agathe Meuting (* 1484 in Augsburg , † July 25, 1562 in Lindau). The marriage had eight children: Christoph, Johann Ulrich, Johann Jacob (1510–1568), Barbara (1511 - approx. 1535), Nikolaus (1519–1604), Georg (* approx. 1520), Johann Ludwig (* 1521 ) and Amalie (1526–1592).
