Johannes Vogel (sports educator)

Johannes Emil Vogel (born September 29, 1875 in Fürstenau near Neuwedell , Arnswalde district , † after 1955 probably in Hanover ) was a German sports teacher.

Life

Johannes Vogel was the son of the teacher Hinrich Vogel. In September 1895 he passed his first primary school teacher examination and started teaching at the city school in Neuwedell (Pomerania). In November 1897 he passed the second exam. In March 1899 he passed the gymnastics, fencing and swimming instructor exams at the Royal Gymnastics Teacher Training Institute in Berlin and worked there from 1901 to 1902 as an assistant gymnastics teacher. He then moved to Hanover as a gymnastics teacher at Realschule III. In 1912 he became a part-time academic gymnastics teacher at the Technical University of Hanover . In 1924 he switched to the upper secondary school at the Luther Church in Hanover as a high school teacher . In 1926 he was officially appointed academic gymnastics and sports teacher at the TH Hannover . In 1928 Vogel became director of the institute for physical exercise at the university. In 1941 he was promoted to government councilor. On April 1, 1947, he finally retired.
