Shortly after the end of the war, Vogel was appointed to the Friedenskirche in Potsdam , where he worked as a pastor until his death. Even after the establishment of the Weimar Republic , he remained closely connected to the House of Hohenzollern and was strictly monarchist : He visited Wilhelm II several times in his exile in Doorn and performed his wedding with Princess Hermine . He also gave the sermon for the ex-emperor's seventieth birthday. Politically, he was also considered " militaristic , anti-Semitic , anti-Bolshevik ".

Vogel died of a heart attack in February 1933 after having to break off a children's service due to a faint attack.
