Johannes Wilsing

Johannes Wilsing (born September 8, 1856 in Berlin , † December 23, 1943 in Potsdam ) was a German astronomer .

Wilsing studied in Berlin and Göttingen . In 1880 he received his doctorate in Berlin with the work on the influence of air pressure and heat on pendulum movement .

From 1898 to 1921 he was an observer at the Astrophysical Observatory Potsdam .

In 1896, together with Julius Scheiner , he tried to detect radio emissions from the sun. Wilson's main area of ​​research was spectrophotometry .

Honors

In 1919 he was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .
