Johannes Wirsching

Johannes Wirsching (born November 20, 1929 in Gumbinnen ; † March 13, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Wirsching already specialized in systematic theology during his studies at Heidelberg University . After receiving his doctorate (1960) with Edmund Schlink , whose assistant he was, he wrote numerous studies on systematics and dogmatics . From 1969 he worked as a lecturer at the University of Education in Freiburg , and since 1971 as a full professor. In 1973 he moved to the Church University of Berlin-Zehlendorf as a full professor for systematic theology . After the political change he moved to the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1993 . In 1998 he retired. In 2000 he was awarded the Hermann Sasse Prize .
