John the Baptist in Yzeure

The sculpture of John the Baptist in the church of St-Pierre in Yzeure , a French commune in the Allier department of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region , was created in the 15th century. In 1918 the sculpture of St. John the Baptist was classified as a Monument historique .

The polychrome stone sculpture is approximately 1.90 meters high. John the Baptist, dressed in a characteristic fur, holds the Easter lamb in his left hand, the head of which is missing.
