Johannes Renneteau

Johannes von Dubna (born November 13, 1942 Jean-Pierre Renneteau in Bordeaux ) has been Archbishop ( Exarch ) of the Exarchate of Orthodox Congregations of Russian Tradition in Western Europe of the Moscow Patriarchate since 2019 .

Life

Jean Renneteau studied from 1967 to 1974 at the Institut de Théologie Orthodoxe Saint-Serge in Paris. He was ordained a priest in 1974 and was then responsible for the Orthodoxy program on France 2 . In 1976 he became a priest of the French-speaking Orthodox community of Sainte-Catherine-Sainte-Trinité in Chambésy near Geneva .

On February 13, 2015 he was elected Archbishop of Charioupolis by the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and assigned to the Exarchate of the Orthodox Congregations of Russian Tradition in Western Europe, based in Paris.

On March 3, 2015, he was installed in the St. George's Cathedral in Istanbul, and on March 15, 2015, he was ordained bishop in the Church of St. Paul of the Center orthodoxe du Patriarcat œcuménique de Chambésy . On November 28, 2015 he became locum tenens for Telmessos' resigned exarch job . On March 28, 2016, the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Exarchate of Orthodox Congregations of Russian Tradition in Western Europe proposed him as the new Exarch, and he was elected by the Holy Synod on April 22, 2016. Since September 2019 he has been managing the parishes of the Russian tradition in Western Europe that have joined the Russian Orthodox Church.
