Johanneskirche and community center in Kachtenhausen

The Johanneskirche is an Evangelical Reformed church in the Kachtenhausen district of the city of Lage in the Lippe district . To this day it is the last new church to be built in the Lippe regional church .

history

In the past, Kachtenhausen was part of the Helpup parish . In order to create a meeting place and worship place for the Kachtenhauser population, which is growing due to the strong influx, the Helpup parish decided to build a community center there. The foundation stone was laid in 1968. The flat roof building , which was built using concrete formwork , was inaugurated on the 1st of Advent 1970.

On January 1, 1987, Kachtenhausen was joined by the synod of the Lippe regional church of the parish of Müssen . When Pastor Dirk Gerstendorf took office in 1989, efforts were intensified to make Kachtenhausen an independent congregation, which was successful on January 1, 1992.

The growing workload of the newly founded congregation made it necessary to build a new church. The foundation stone for the Johanneskirche was laid on June 12, 1995. On December 24, 1995, the church was opened for the Christmas Eve service, but was not officially consecrated until January 7, 1996.

Architecture and equipment

The church tower reaches a total height of 23 meters up to the weather cock. The interior of the church has an octagonal floor plan and has an organ gallery with additional seats. The bell tower is directly connected to the church service room. The church was designed by the local architect Friedhelm Perl , who also took over the building supervision. The church building was attached directly to the existing community center and expanded it. The church was built from modern sand-lime brick and concrete columns . The roof consists of a wooden structure that is paneled in the church area.

A recurring design element of the church is the diamond , which can be found in the church windows and the sound outlets of the tower. Since the end of 2010, the diamond has also been in the community's logo.

organ

The organ of the Johanneskirche was built in 1847 under the supervision of the organ expert of the Lippische Landeskirche, Seminar-Insp. Adolf Dresel, built for the chapel of Schieder Castle by one of the most important organ building workshops in the Westphalian region (Oestreich, Heeren, Kuhlmann or Möhling) . After the odyssey through some Lippe parishes in the 1950s and 1960s, the instrument was saved from destruction by the organ expert Alexander Wagner and restored in 1971 by the organ building workshop Gustav Steinmann , Vlotho , and the restoration workshop Anton Ochsenfarth, Paderborn , on behalf of the Lippische Landeskirche and placed in the community center Kachtenhausen. After the new church was built, the organ was installed on the gallery of the Johanneskirche.

Church window

The six church windows were made according to designs by Michael Lönne and Jörn Neumann from the Peters glass painting company in Paderborn . For the first time, a process was used in which multiple-pane insulating glass was processed from the inside before assembly. The windows show an interpretation of the church motto according to John 7:38: Whoever believes in me, as the scriptures say, rivers of living water will flow from his body. This Bible verse can also be found on the wall hangings that are hung on the front wall of the interior.

Bells

The bells were cast in 1995 by the Rincker brothers . They are suspended in a bell cage made of steel profiles , which also offers space for a fourth bell. Before hanging, the bells were moved through the parish in a procession.
