The Johanniskirche , also known as the Peseckendorf chapel , is a listed church in the village of Peseckendorf in Saxony-Anhalt, part of the town of Oschersleben (Bode) .

It belongs to the Evangelical parish of Klein Oschersleben in the Egeln parish of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany and is located in the center of Peseckendorf, east of Kastanienallee.

Architecture and history

The small building was based on an inscription in 1857. It was built on behalf of the manor owner Hermann Degener. In terms of design, the building, made of natural stones, is designed in a round arch style. There are three large arched windows on each of the long sides. The window and door reveals are made of brick. The entrance portal is arranged on the west side. Above the west gable is a bell arcade in which there is a bell created in 1591 by the Magdeburg bell founder Heinrich Borstelmann .

The ceiling spanning the interior of the church has paintings from the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century.

In the local register of monuments , the building is registered as a chapel under registration number 094 96379 as a monument .

The chapel is currently in need of renovation (as of 2019), and entry has been prohibited at least since 2017. Since the church district no longer plans to invest in the chapel, there are considerations to change the ownership status and possibly transfer it to an association.
