John Edward Anderson , OAM (born July 24, 1939 in Sydney ) is a former Australian regatta sailor .

biography

John Anderson was able to win the gold medal in the Star at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich together with David Forbes . His twin brother Thomas Anderson was also successful at the Games and became Olympic champion in the dragon boat. Four years later at the Montreal Games , Anderson and his Soling crew, who had become North American champions a year earlier, only finished eleventh.

On January 26, 1987, Anderson received the Medal of Order of Australia in recognition of his achievements in sailing.
