John Beatty (draftsman)

John Beatty (born May 6, 1961 in Whitesburg , Kentucky ) is an American illustrator and comic book artist. Beatty was best known for his work on the comic series Captain America and Batman .

life and work

Beatty works primarily as an ink draftsman. In this capacity, he has worked for the two largest US comic publishers, DC Comics and Marvel Comics , among others. For DC he was in charge of the Batman series, where between 1995 and 1998 he supplemented the stories about the gloomy crime fighter drawn by the expressionist artist Kelley Jones with dark ink overlay. For Marvel Comics, he was in charge of the Captain America series in the 1980s, adding to Mike Zeck's pencil drawings .

Other series Beatty worked on were "Beyonder", "Secret Wars" and "Ninja Turtles".
