John Blezard

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John H. Blezard (* 1927 in Kendal , United Kingdom ) is a now inactive British film architect and painter .

Live and act

Born in the north of England, Blezard, the son of a landscape gardener, was trained as an architect at the School of Building in Brixton (London) . At the theater school of the Old Vic Theater in London , he received further training in stage design. Blezard remained connected to the theater well into the 1950s. It was only after he had worked as an architect's assistant on the long-standing hit series Robin Hood that Bezard finally switched to television and, in 1959, to cinema. There he made his debut in the horror story City of the Dead . He then specialized first in comedies, later also in dramatic and action-packed material.

Blezard performed his most important work in 1974 with the "claustrophobic concentration camp film 'The Refuge', where he was able to use the most spartan means to effectively make the oppression of persecution visible". After the end of his film career in the mid-1990s, John Blezard retired to Kingsdown in the southern English county of Kent and devoted himself to his great love, painting. Since then, even at the age of over 80, he has been contributing his own work to exhibitions at the South East Open Studios year after year - especially landscapes and lake pictures in watercolors and acrylic.
