John C. Donkin

John C. Donkin (* 1961 ) is an American film producer .

Life

Donkin studied camera work (Bachelor's degree) and then computer animation (Master's degree) at Ohio State University . In 1983 he joined the Computer Graphics Group at OSU under Chuck Csuri and then worked as an animator at Cranston / Csuri Productions. In 1987 he returned to OSU and did research at the University's Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design. Among other things, the short film Dinosaur Stuff was made here in 1988 and was animated on the computer.

From 1991 Donkin was head of the animation department and studio manager at Lamb & Company. In 1998 he was hired by Blue Sky Studios . He was technical director on the short film Bunny and eventually became production manager on the studio's first full-length animation, Ice Age . In addition to films like Robots and Rio , Donkin was especially active as a producer on the studio's Ice Age films. For the short animation film Scrat's New Adventure (2002) he was awarded an Oscar as a producer in 2003 in the category Best Animated Short Film.
