Blue Sky Studios is a computer animation company that belongs to 20th Century Fox Animation and, since March 2019, also to the Walt Disney Company , which acquired the studio through the partial purchase of 21st Century Fox . Similar to Pixar Animation Studios , it specializes in animated cinema films.

The company was founded in 1987 and was based in New York City until January 2009 . In January the company relocated to Greenwich, Connecticut . The company employed 500 people in 2017.

Filmography

Blue Sky Studios had great successes with Ice Age , Robots and Ice Age 2 - Now is thawing . The company produced three short films that were nominated for an Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category. The film Bunny (1998) won the coveted award. The second short film was Scrat's new adventure with the character Scrat , from the two Ice Age films. He was nominated for an Oscar in 2003, but lost. The third short film with Scrat, No Time for Nuts , was nominated for an Oscar in 2007. Ice-Age Part 3 was released in early July 2009. Further sequels in the series followed.
