John Carlstrom
John E. Carlstrom (* 1957 ) is an American astrophysicist .
Carlstrom received his bachelor's degree from Vassar College in 1981 and his PhD in 1988 from the University of California, Berkeley . He is a professor at the University of Chicago .
Carlstrom develops observation instruments to study anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background and to discover galaxy clusters with the help of the Sunyaev-Zeldovich effect . Telescopes are used for this purpose, for example at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station or at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory .
