John Copeland

John H. Copeland (born October 13, 1950 in San Diego , California ) is an American film producer and director . In addition to numerous other projects, he was the producer of the successful science fiction series Babylon 5 .

Life

John Copeland's film career began in 1973 as assistant to producer Euan Loyd at Twickenham Studios in London. He was assistant to director Ken Annakin in the film Paper Tiger, starring David Niven . From 1977 he worked with Douglas Netter , who later became executive producer of Babylon 5 . This resulted in series such as The Sacketts and Captain Power and the Soldiers of Future . During the production of Captain Power , where Copeland was production manager, he met J. Michael Straczynski , who contributed 14 episodes as a writer. Together with Straczynski as the spiritual creator and Douglas Netter, John Copeland is considered to be the creator of Babylon 5 .

John Copeland has appeared as a producer and director on numerous episodes of Babylon 5 , the 90-minute television films of Babylon 5, and episodes of the Babylon 5 sequel Crusade . After the end of Babylon 5 and Crusade , Copeland produced other television series such as When Dinosaurs Roamed America (German: Dinosaurs conquer the world ) or Science of Star Wars . In the 2010 series And Man Created Dog , Copeland also works as a screenwriter .
