John Daly (athlete)

John Daly ( John Joseph Daly ; born February 22, 1880 in Ballgluin , County Galway , † March 11, 1969 in New York City , United States ) was an Irish long-distance and obstacle runner who played the United Kingdom of Great Britain and at two Olympic Games Ireland represented.

In 1904 in St. Louis he won the silver medal over 2590 m obstacle. At the Olympic Intermediate Games in Athens in 1906 , he reached the finish line in third in the five-mile run, but was disqualified because he had hindered his competitor Edward Dahl . In the marathon of these games, he gave up injured.

At the Cross of Nations he was third in 1903 and fourth in 1904 and 1906. In 1904 he became US champion in the two-mile obstacle, in 1907 in the five-mile run and the ten-mile road run .
