John Davies (* 1946 in Cheshire , England ) is a British artist and sculptor. He lives and works in London .

Live and act

John Davies studied painting at Hull College of Art and Manchester College of Art from 1963 to 1967 . From 1968 to 1969 he attended the Slade School of Fine Art in London.

John Davies is known for his life-size sculptures of people. The human being is also the focus of his drawings and paintings. His early sculptures are characterized by a representation that expresses silent drama through their gestures and postures.

The most important solo exhibition in his early career was in 1972 at the Whitechapel Art Gallery in London. John Davies was appointed as a participating artist for documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977 . In the 1990s, John Davies lived and worked in Thessaloniki , Greece for several years . An important solo exhibition in recent years took place in 2004/2005 at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao under the title John Davies. Sculptures and drawings since 1968 .
