Benjamin Barg (born September 15, 1984 in Bonn ) is a German football player who can be used both in defensive midfield and in the position of central defender.

Career

Benjamin Barg played in his youth for the clubs Bahlinger SC , SV Sandhausen , SV Oberreichenbach and VfL Herrenberg.

From 2005 to the beginning of the second half of 2008 he played for Karlsruher SC and for the KSC Amateurs (Karlsruher SC II). In the second division he played only one game (on the 32nd matchday of the 2005/06 season when KSC played 7-0 against Eintracht Braunschweig), in the former Regionalliga Süd, however, a total of 71 games (5 goals). In the Bundesliga squad of the KSC he was temporarily in the 2007/08 season, but without coming on a mission. During the winter break he moved to SV Sandhausen , where he made eleven appearances in the Regionalliga Süd. In the 2008/09 season he played for the third division club Wuppertaler SV Borussia , where he lost his regular place at the beginning of the second half of the season.

In 2009 Barg joined VfR Aalen , who had been relegated to the Regionalliga Süd and, under coach Rainer Scharinger , under whom he had already trained in his sand houses time, put together a completely new team except for three players, and was behind Aytaç Sulu , the Barg also knew from his time at SV Sandhausen, who was the team's vice-captain. Barg became a regular player and reached with the team the championship of the regional league and thus the direct return to the third division. He also won the WFV Cup . In the following season he kept his regular place under the new coach Ralph Hasenhüttl , who took over the team during the winter break; thereby Barg was the only field player in the entire third division who completed all 38 games of the season. After captain Aytaç Sulu left VfR in summer 2011, Hasenhüttl appointed Benjamin Barg as the team's new captain. However, he lost his regular place due to injury and was therefore only used in nine games until the winter break, only four of them from the start, which is why the previous vice-captain Leandro Grech was appointed captain instead of Barg. Even in the second half of the season he played only irregularly, but reached second place in the table with the club at the end of the season and thus promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.

But since he had lost contact with the team due to the injury, Barg was removed from the first team's squad for the new 2012/13 season and the responsible persons suggested that he change clubs. He then trained with Aalen's second team before his contract, which had run until the end of the season, was terminated in January 2013. Barg then joined Borussia Mönchengladbach's second team playing in the Regionalliga .
